This is a limited edition scissor cut art by Wang Hong Chuan. Only one copy has been made and the artist does not intend to reproduce the design again. This paper cut art is inspired by the Chinese Tale about a boy called Wang Xiang. Wang Xiang's mother died and his father later on re-married. Wang Xiang's stepmother always maltreated him. During one of the cold snowy days of winter, Wang Xiang's stepmother was ill and was craving to eat fish. She asked Wang Xiang to catch some fish in the river. Wang Xiang being a good son braved the cold winter and went to the river. The river was frozen and Wang Xiang was unable to find a hole in the ice to do his fishing. Wang Xiang cried and lied down on the ice in desperation. His body heat and flowing tears eventually created a hole in the icy water and miraculously, two fish jumped out of the hole. Wang Xiang happily went home to show his stepmother the fish. This made his stepmother realize how good a son Wang Xiang is and from then on treated him well.
